The line graph shows the percentage of American’s different age groups who used four methods of communicate in 2011.
Overall, the figures for those who relied on Internet and Mobile phone communicate witnessed a downward trend, whereas the opposite was true in the case of age groups in America communicating through telephone and Post.
In under 18, 50% American teenagers interacted with other Internet, which was the highest record on chart. While its relative number had went down to by 20% in 36-60 age group, it further continued its downward tendency, and the 60+ reported that only 5% of those people had communication. Telephone’s figure has reminded stable until 36-60 age group, but this statistic gradually decreased at 15% in 60+.
Regarding the other ways of communicating, we can see the opposite pattern. The proportion of teenager in the UK who used Post as main means of communication saw gradual and significant increase over the span, grow from just above 5% to 35%. As to the percentage of teenager using telephone it started off at around a 15%. By 36-60 age groups, there had been a moderate growth in this figure to 35%, after which it skyrocketed to reach a peak of 45% in the 60+.
