The provided illustratrions displays the use of electical energy in English households, where the first figure illustrates usage in typical days and the other one shows what the electricity is being used for.
Overall, electricity is used comparitively high in winter season than in summer. The average consumption of electricity is approximately doubled in winter. More than half proportion of electricity consumed is utilized towards heating purposes while other half is divided almost equally to other three handlings.
As observed from the graph, electricity usage in a typical winter day is about averaged at 40000 units during day while it increases sharply in the evening after 9 pm, peaking just under 50000 units. In contrast, maximum use of electrical energy is only 20000 units which is half of what used in winter days.
Since the electricity usage is higher in winter, it is no surprise that the power usage is maximum for heating rooms and heating water as 52.5% of consumption goes to heating activities. 15% of what is consumed, goes to lighting, TV, radio and other electrical tools, and remaning 17.5 percent to kitchen tools and washing machines.
