The bar graph illustrates the number of candidates from European Nations, Middle East, Far East and Africa in a UK university from 1999 to 20003.
Overall, although most candidates from the Far East applied to a UK university from 1999 to 2003, the opposite was true for candidates from Africa.
Regarding Europe Nations and the Far East, the number of applicants from Europe Nations was exactly 30,000 in 1999, the highest start among other nations. The figure for Europe Nations experienced the most significant decrease for the next three years, which ranged from 25,000 to around 17,000 and ended at below 15,000 at the end of the period. In contrast, a UK university attracted most students from the Far East throughout the period, starting at 16,000 applicants and witnessed an upward trend to over 25,000 in 2002. In 2003, the number of students from the Far East was around 35,000, becoming the dominant of this period, surpassing the European Nations.
Concerning other countries, around 12,000 applicants from the Middle East attended the UK university in 1999, while the figure fluctuated over the next few years at 13,000 and reached a top of 21,000 in 2003. Similarly, Africa saw a similar pattern, which began at approximately 5,000 and remained unchanged for the next three years and peaked at 8,000, being the least contributor throughout the time.
