The line graph compares the figures for received inquiries by the Tourist Information Office during the first half of 2011 in one specific city.
Overall, more and more inquiries were either in person or on a phone; their number increasing considerably over the period, especially in the last three months. The number of messages, on the contrary, decreased noticeably between March and May, but were relatively stable throughout the rest of the period.
Two out of three ways of inquiry methods became more popular over time. In January, phone inquiries were most common in the Tourist Information Office with around 900 inquiries, which was more than double that of in-person inquiries, which were clearly the least popular. Over the following months, both experienced significant growth, with the latter becoming the most common way to enquire information, both of their numbers increasing to 1,600 and close to 2,000 by the end of the period. Their growth was the most pronounced during the last three to four months.
The figures for the messages, on the other hand, showed a downward trend. Although they remained at approximately 800 during the first three months (being the second most used communication tool), from March onwards, it declined to less than 400 and remained at that position until June, significantly falling out of favor.
