The line graph displays the number of students who are studying in two big cities, New York and Los Angeles from 2010 to 2020.
Overall, the number of international students who chose to study in New York gradually increased over the period of ten years, while the opposite holds true for Los Angeles decreased steadily.
New York, in 2010, had just over 55,000 oversea applications. This figure remained unchanged for years later, then slightly began to rise after 2012. By the end of the period in 2020, the number of international students in New York rose up to about 62,000, performing a clear upward trend. The growth gradually changed but consistent.
In contrast, Los Angeles recorded approximately 42,000 international students in 2010. A few years later, in 2012, the number remained steady; it then started to decrease slowly. By 2020, the figure dropped below 37,000. This shows a totally downward trend.
