The line graph compares the number of foreign tourists who visited Japan for three different purposes over the period of 20 years.
It is clear that people came to Japan mostly for commercial reasons between 1990 and 2010. What is more, Japan has also become a popular place where people like to spend their holiday time.
In 1990, about 6 million visitors came to Japan for business purposes. In contrast, tourists who were on the purpose of the vacation were approached by 6 million, and the fewest tourists planned to visit their friends, which was 4 million people.
We can see that from 1995 to 2000, more and more businessmen visited Japan, which was almost up to 10 million people; however, the number dropped to less than 8 million in 2005. Interestingly, after 1995, the number of tourists who came for vacation increased to over 6 million, and it kept growing to 8 million until 2010. In addition, the number of visitors who want to meet their friends has grown steadily since 1995, and it once caught up with the same number of people who were on holiday purposes in 2005.
