Overall, the number of shops openings decreased throughout the period, while the number os shops closure fluctuated significantly. Although, the closures were lower than the openings at the start of the period, the most noticeable changes as it reached to the highest.
In 2011, there were around 8500 shops openings, while about 6300 shops were closed. Then, openings dropped significantly to 4000 in 2012. After that, the figure increased gradually to around 6200 in 2014. Afterwards, it fell to 4000 in 2015 and remained stable in 2016. Openings rose slightly about 4200 in 2017 before falling to 3000 in 2018.
With regard to shop closures, the number started at approximately 6400 in 2011 and decreased slighlty to around 6000 in 2012. It then reached a peak at about 7200 in 2013 before declining to around 6500 in 2014. In 2015, closures dropped dramatically to only about 500. After that, the figure recovered quickly to just over 5000 in 2016 and stayed close to 5000 until 2018, ended around at5200.
