Overall, it is notable that the figure for annual visitors to the Met Museum and Edo Museum dipped down and up while the National Museum experienced an upward trend in the number of visitors.
In details, the Met Museum ranked second place with 12 million annual visitors in 2000, before halving to last place in the next two years with only 6 million visitors. From 2003 to 2005, the figure rose rapidly, peaking almost 15 million visitors. Interestingly, that of remained almost second place.
In contrast, the figure for Natioanl-China Museum had the lowest number of visitors in 2000, at 7 million. That of went up remarkably the last 4-year period as opposed to another two museums fluctuated in this year’s.
