The graph illustrates how many crimes happened in three measures in a city of the United States between 1980 and 2000.
Overall, there was an increase in the number of crimes in house burglary and street robbery, while a decline was seen in the cases of car theft. It is also clear that the number of street robberies consistently had the lowest figure throughout the period.
The figure for car theft started at precisely 350 cases in 1980, after which it saw a considerable decline to 250 cases in 1990. Conversely, shy of 250 cases were seen in the number of burglaries in houses in 1980, with a significant rise to almost 320 cases in 10 years later, surpassing the cases of car theft. The cases of street robbery grew from 50 to 100 in 1990.
From 1990 to 2000, the figure for car theft experienced an unstable increase, reaching approximately 300 cases. An opposite change was seen in the number of house burglaries, which was about 175 cases in 1995, followed by a dramatic rise to 270 cases at the end of the period. The crimes of street robbery dropped slightly to just over 50 cases in 2000.
