The graph shows the oil production in several African countries like Nigeria, Chad, Congo and Cote d’Ivoire between 2000 and 2004.

Overall, it is evident that the highest oil production was in Nigeria. On the other hand, the lowest oil production was in Chad in 2000, then changed to Cote d’Ivoire in 2004 according to the graph.

Focusing on Nigeria and Chad petroleum extraction level in 2000 was 2 million barrels and zero barrels respectively. In 2002 oil extraction dropped to 1.9 million barrels in Nigeria. In 2003 Chad started to produce oil and extracted 50,000 barrels that year, and oil extraction in Nigeria increased to 2.1 million barrels which equaled its output in 2001. In 2004 extraction level reached 2.2 million and 50,000 barrels in Nigeria and Chad, respectively.

As for Congo Brazzaville and Côte d’Ivoire, the extraction amounts were 280,000 and 8,000 barrels, respectively. In both countries changes were not dramatic. In Congo extraction level decreased gradually and declined to 205,000 barrels in 2004. In contrast, Cote d’Ivoire oil extraction grew slightly to 45,000 barrels in 2004.
