The table illustrates the amount of oil production in four African countries between 2000 and 2004. Overall, Nigeria produced the highest amount of oil throughout the period, while Chad had no production at the beginning but showed a significant increase later. In contrast, Congo Brazzaville experienced a gradual decline, whereas Cote d’Ivoire showed a steady rise.
Looking at Nigeria, its oil production was the highest among all countries. It started at 2,000,000 barrels in 2000, increased slightly to 2,100,000 in 2001, then dropped to 1,900,000 in 2002. After that, it recovered and reached a peak of 2,200,000 barrels in 2004.
Congo Brazzaville, on the other hand, showed a consistent decrease. Its production fell from 280,000 barrels in 2000 to 205,000 in 2004. Meanwhile, Cote d’Ivoire had relatively low production but followed an upward trend, rising from 8,000 barrels in 2000 to 45,000 in 2004.
Finally, Chad had no oil production in the first three years. However, it started producing oil in 2003 with 50,000 barrels and then increased sharply to 290,000 barrels in 2004. while Nigeria remained the dominant producer, other countries showed different trends, including growth, decline, and late development.
