Overall, the appearing trends mean that whereas Nigeria had the highest oil production, Cote d’Ivoire had the lowest between 2000 and 2004.
Oil production in Nigeria varied. It started at 2,000,000 oil barrels in 2000, and increased slowly to 2,100,000 oil barrels in 2001. A year later, it decreased sharply to 1,900,000 oil barrels in 2002, then rose significantly to 2,100,000 oil barrels in 2003, and then increased gradually to 2,200,000 oil barrels. There was no oil production in Chad from 2000 to 2002. Chad produced about 510,000 oil barrels, and this increased and reached 290,000 barrels in 2004. Similarly, Cote d’Ivoire’s production also increased from 8000 barrels in 2000 to 45,000 barrels by 2004. On the other hand, the production of oil in Congo Brazzaville decreased continuously.
