The bar chart shows the proportions of boys and girls who took part in different sports activities, namely swimming, football, netball, basketball, and no sport, during a given period.
Overall, boys were most likely to play football, whereas girls mainly participated in netball. It is also clear that very small percentages of both boys and girls did not take part in any sport.
Looking first at swimming, around 13% of boys were involved in this activity, compared with a higher figure of about 16% for girls. A similar pattern can be seen in the group with no sport participation, where girls accounted for approximately 5%, while the figure for boys was lower at around 3%. In contrast, basketball was more popular among boys, with about 8% taking part, compared with roughly 6% of girls.
Football showed the biggest difference between the two groups. About 20% of boys played football, making it the most popular sport among them, while only around 4% of girls did so. On the other hand, netball was clearly preferred by girls, with approximately 17% participating, whereas boys recorded the lowest figure in this sport at just 3%.
