The bar chart illustrates the attendance percentages of school students in 4 different sports in Australia in 2010. Overall, football and basketball had a higher attendance rate of boys compared to that of girls, while the opposite was true for netball and swimming.
In 2010, one fifth of school boys played football, making it the most participated-in sport. However, a very small percentage of girls were interested in it, at just 4%. Unlikely, basketball included almost the same shares of boys and girls, with about 8% and 7%, respectively.
By contrast, netball and swimming were more common among the girls than the boys. The former sport was played by around 18% of girls, having the highest participation rate in this gender, versus just 2% of boys. Interestingly, swimming was the runner-up in both genders of school students, including about 16% of girls and 13% of boys. The remaining 4% of girls and 5% of boys didn’t attend any sports.
