Overall, it is clear that the people buying whole milk steadily declined from 25 gallons to 5 gallons. In contrast, the consumption of low-fat milk has increased, nearly twice more.
Looking at the line graph more closely, one can see that during twenty-year period from 1970 to 1990, people buying low-fat milk per person rose rapidly. However, whole milk sales decreased sizably resulting low-fat milk to catch up. Moreover, gallons of whole milk consumed constantly shrink until 2015. In addition, low-fat milk consumption remain relatively constant from the time period of 1990 to 2010, but then slightly fell.
