The line graph illustrates the proportion of Australian exports to 4 different countries over a period of 22 years, from 1990 to 2012. Overall, the percentage of exports from Australia to China and India took an upswing trend while the opposite was true for the percentages of Japan and US international trade.
Starting with just about 2% in 1990, the proportion of Australian export products to India witnessed a rapid increase to 5% 10 years later. After that, it rose dramatically to around 26% in 2010 and ended up with 30% in 2012. The total figure for the exportation from Australia to India grew gradually beginning with just about 1% in 1990 and peaking at approximately 7% a decade later.
The figure for the US, on the other hand, experienced a recovery to 12% in 2000 after decreasing from 12% to 9% in 1995. Furthermore, the percentage of Australian exports to this country fell steadily and reached a number of around 6% in 2012. Japan followed a downward trend all the time when declining significantly from 27% to 20% in the first 5 years and then slowly dropping to about 18% in 2012.
