The graph provides information about the number of cars in each house owned for regular use in Great Britain between 1971 and 2007.
It is clear that the proportion of houses with two cars increased considerably, and the figures for no car decreased significantly over the period. In contrast, although houses with three or more cars rose slightly, the ratio of houses which owned only one car remained steady during the period.
In 1971, almost 48% of total houses had no car for regular use. The figure for one car houses about 44%. Although the ratio of houses with two cars was approximately 8%, houses which owned three or more cars experienced a lower at that time. the percentage of houses which had no car for regular use fell behind than houses with one car around 1975.
Around 2003, the percentage of houses which owned two cars surpassed houses with no cars. At that period, the ratio of both types of houses nearly 25%. In the final year, approximately 44% of total houses had only one car and the number of houses with three or more cars was about 7% of total houses.
