Overall, all counties experienced significant changes during the period. There was a dramatic rise in the share of female workers of Italian parliament, while this figure in other countries increase gradually. In Germany, the proportion of women parliament employees increase slightly.
At the beginning of the period, the percentage of female workers in Italy parliament accounted for almost 3% and was in the lowest position among others. This figure remained stable from 2000 to 2004, before increasing dramatically from about 3% initially to about 23% in 2012. The proportion of women in the UK parliament witnessed rise from 17% in 2000 to 23% in 2012, this figure that then reached a parity with Italy.
As for Spain, it saw its proportion of female politicians climbed sharply from 27% in 2000 to 36% in 2004, prior to decrease slightly to 1% in 2008. Meanwhile, Belgium experienced a considerable jump from 23% to 35% between 2000 and 2004, this figure remained stable for four years and increased modestly from 35% to 38% at the end. In contrast, the share of women who worked in Germany experienced minimum rise from almost 31% to 33% during all the time.
