The line graph below demonstrates proportion of Australian workforce in certain developments such as services, manufacturing, agriculture, construction and mining in percentages from 1962 to 2012.

Overall, services stood at the first place and controversially, mining remained at the last place over the period. At the end of a period, any of the industries, excluding services, did not exceed 12%.

Mining displayed insignificant increase but never reached 5% over the period. Construction was the one with increase too, however it fluctuated between approximately 7% and 9% until nearly 2000. Eventually it almost reached 10% in 2012. Next development with growth was services. Services represented stable growth from above 50% in 1962 and below 80% in 2012.

Despite this positive trend, other two industries indicated a decrease. One of them was manufacturing. It was stable in the first ten years at nearly 25%, but then it gradually fell to 10% until 2012. The last industry, agriculture, started with more than 10% and ended with two fold decrease.
