The graph illustrates the percentage of the Australian workforce in five industries from 1962 to 2013. Overall, the figure for services’ employee significantly increased, remaining biggest employer throughout given period. Notably, the percentage of workforce in manufacturing and agriculture decreased in contrast to construction and mining’s number of employees saw decrease.
Regarding biggest shareholders, the share of services was just above 50% in 1962, prior to noticeable rise to about 80%, all time high, in 2012. As for the second sector with highest number of workers, the percentage for manufacturing stood at roughly 28% in 1996 and fell to its lowest 10% in 2012.
Turning to remaining sectors, the percentage of workers in agriculture decreased to about 5% in 2012, by approximately 6%. However, the figure for construction employees slightly went up from about 9% to 10% in 1996 and 2012, respectively. Similarly, the percentage of workforce in mining industry saw its increase just by roughly 3% from about 1%.
