The given line graph compares the proportion of the workforce in five industries, such as services, manufacturing, agriculture, construction, and mining in Australia over the period of 50 years.
Overall, the highest percentage of the Australian workforce was attributed to the service field. Conversely, the least proportion of the workforce was working in construction and agriculture.
In 1962, most of the Australian workforce was working in service and manufacturing industries. Interestingly, workers in the service industry were significantly more than workers in the manufacturing industry, where about half of the workforce was attributed to the service field. Moreover, this rate continued to rise to peak at approximately 78% in 2012. In contrast, the rate of people who worked in manufacturing declined considerably to level off at just 10% of the total working population in 2012.
Regarding the remaining industries, fewer people worked in these fields. In 1962, people who worked in the agriculture industry were superior to others who worked in the constructions. However, at the end of the period, the figure for construction surpassed that of agriculture, at around 10% and nearly 5%, respectively. In contrast, the figure for mining was negligible throughout the years.
