The line graph given depicts the proportion of employees working in five fields in Australia over a 50-year period starting in 1962.
Apparently, services had the greatest percentage of the workforce. Among the five industries, while manufacturing and agriculture experienced a downward trend, the others, namely services, construction and mining, went up by various levels during the researched period.
In the beginning, services accounted for more than a half of the workforce and steadily increased to almost 80% in the next 50 years. The percentage of construction workers started at around 10% and remained its position by 2012. Likewise, mining began at 0% and then flatlined around 2% across all years.
Regarding the above-mentioned decrease, in 1962, manufacturing and agriculture took up around 25% and 10%, respectively. Over the next 50 years, the proportion of manufacturing workforce significantly fell by 15% to 10%. Also, that of agriculture dramatically declined to 0% in 2012.
