Overall, the rate of internet access in both urban/suburban and rural areas was steadily increasing from 2008 to 2013. The highest rate of internet connectivity was achieved in 2013. On the other hand, urban families have more accessibility to the internet than those living in rural areas.
In urban/suburban households, the rate of internet accessibility increased significantly from over 10% in 2008 to 30% in 2009. In 2010 and 2011, the percentage increased by 10% reaching 40% in 2010 and 50% in 2011. In the later part of the period, the rate went beyond 50%, but the percentage in 2012 was lower than in 2013.
Families residing in rural areas almost did not have access to the internet in 2008. The rate gradually increased by 5% starting in 2009 reaching around 5% in 2009, 10% in 2010, and around 15% in 2011. In the later part of the period, around 10% was added each year reaching around 25% in 2012 and around 35% in 2013.
Given the geographical conditions, internet access for those living in urban areas is more available than for those living in rural areas and accessibility to the internet remained higher in urban/suburban households than in rural communities.
