The bar chart indicates the amount of households in urban/suburban or rural areas of a non-specified country that had access to Internet over a 5-year period from 2011 to 2016.
Overall, families or people living in urban or suburban regions were far more likely to have Internet access through all of the given time period. Nevertheless, the number of households with access to Internet in rural areas steadily increased until 2016.
Approximately 15% of the households living in urban or suburban regions included in the data had access to Internet. From this point onwards, the amount of Internet accesses in these areas gradually grew, after an initial surge in 2012 with roughly 30% of families having access to Internet, reaching a peak in 2016 at about 55%.
Compared to that, a relatively minor number of households in rural areas had Internet access. Starting at only about 2% of all households, the number of accesses steadily rose until 2016 where it hit a record of roughly 35%.
