The line graph illustrates the population figures of various types of wild birds (coastal, woodland, farmland and all species) in the United Kingdom from 1970 to 2004.
Overall, the population of coastal and all species saw an upward trend, while woodland’s and farmland’s decreased. In fact, all types of species started with the same figure and fluctuated over the period.
The population count of all types of species was 100 in 1970. The population figures of coastal species went up significantly from 1970 to 1986 and reached more than 130. After this, there were fluctuations between 1987 and 2004. Despite this trend, the number did not change. At the same time, the population figures of all species, despite the instability over the whole period, grew to 110.
Both woodland and farmland species experienced a growth at the beginning of the given period. However, after 1977, there was a downward trend and the population figures of woodland species dramatically declined, whereas the population of farmland species decreased by around 10 figures and was approximately 90.
