The line paragraph illustrates the amount of energy being produced from petroleum, coal and natural gas in the UK from 1981 to 2000.
As can be seen from the chart, production levels of petroleum were the highest among 3 kinds of fuel. While production levels of petroleum and natural gas increased over the period, that of coal took the opposite direction.
The number of petroleum output witnessed a slight increase between 1981 and 1991, from around 90 units to 100 units. After that, it rose significantly at about 150 units in 2000. Meanwhile, over the period given, production levels of coal fell rapidly, from 80 units to around 60 units. Then, it decreased continuously, at about 40 units in 2000.
Over the period of 10 years, the levels of natural gas output witnessed a slight increase, from around 40 units to 50 units. Moreover, this figure increased dramatically to 100 units in 2000.
