This report summarizes and describes the information about the quantities of goods transported in the United Kingdom between 1974 and 2002 by four different means of transportation.
From 1974 to 2002 , road was the most used option in the timeline while water and rail became 2nd and 3rd respectively, because of their frequency of usage and pipeline option came last in the chart.
Firstly, In 1974 landways were used to move 70 million tonnes of items. Moreover, the steady growth of usage of this option secured its position from being passed by other means of transportations in the chart and at the end of this timeline, in 2002, nearly 100 million tonnes of goods were transported via road transportation. From 1974 to 2002 water and rail transportation usage were nearly the same with 40 million tonnes of goods transported both. However in the 2002 water transportation moved more than 60 million tonnes of goods while rail transportation usage rate remained still. Although pipeline option was not too popular in the United Kingdom it had the most stable growth than any other options in the chart and in 1974, pipeline transportation moved nearly 5 million tonnes of items and with its stable increasing usage through the timeline, in 2002, it made 20 million tonnes of goods transported in the whole kingdom.
