The line graph compares four types of ways in terms of transferred quantity of items the UK between 1974 and 2002.

Overall, the four ways experienced identical trends during the period. While the pipeline, water and road increased steeply with some fluctuations, the rail stayed stable with some drops.

As can be seen from the data, the pipeline started at 10 million tons in 1974. Followed by a small rise to 18 in 1982. Then, it grew to just above 20 in 1994 , and the amount was unchanged until 2002. Regarding water, it climbed slightly below 60 and remained steady until 1990, then fell to 50 in 1998 and surged to just over 60 in 2002. Road started with 70 in 1974 and moved upward with frequent changes to just under 80 in 1994, then it gradually jumped to around 100 in 2002.

In contrast, rail in 1974 was 40 , and it declined with irregular movement to 30 in 1994. After, it went up to 40 again in 2002.
