The line graph illustrates how the UK delivered some goods in four different transports from 1974 to 2002. Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that delivering activities has increased over time, even though some fluctuation happens.
Road and pipeline modes of delivery have been growing steadily in 8 years record. Goods transported by roads reached almost 70 million tonnes in 1974, which was a big start. Experienced ups and downs then make a hit of approximately 100 million tonnes at the end of the period. Pipeline-transferred was also getting more attention, yet it started with less than 5 million tonnes and ended with more than 20 million tonnes in 2002.
Meanwhile, goods that were transferred by water and rail experienced dramatic fluctuations. Both have almost the same start line, about 40 million tonnes. Then water modes rose to almost 60 million tonnes and stood for nearly 14 years, lastly reviewed at approximately 65 million tonnes. Rail modes, on the other side, decreased continuously in 5 periods yet got back their demand in 2002.
