Overview, the data reveals that users in all platforms witness a general upward trend, except for LinkedIn. Facebook consistently had the most users, while Pinterest displayed the greatest growth.
In 2012, Facebook started off with a high of 67%, which slightly increased in 2013 and remained relatively stable hitting a peak at 72 in the early of 2015. Similarly, Twitter started at 16%, remained fairly consistent and had a minor rise in 2014 before levelled off at 23% at the end of the period.
On the other hand, both Pinterest and Instagram began with lower users at 11% and 13%, respectively; experienced an exponential surge in 2014 before slowing down at the end of the period, where the former stopped at 31% and the latter at 28%. In contrast, LinkedIn commenced with the second highest user proportion, which illustrated a continuous upward movement until the year 2014. Afterwards, it fell to 25% in the beginning of 2015.
