The illustration presents the results of a survey among adult people regarding their use of different social media from 2012 to 2015.
Overall, the most used social media during that period was Facebook, while other websites had approximately equal numbers of online adults.
In 2012, Facebook had an overwhelmingly larger number of online adults than the other websites (67% of online adults). This number increased and hit a peak in 2015 with 72% of online adults. The other social media websites, like Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter, initially had approximately the same number of online adults in 2012. It is also necessary to note the fact that the online presence of Pinterest and Instagram increased more than twice since 2012, while the online presence of LinkedIn and Twitter increased only a little. In addition to this, the only website whose online presence decreased from 2014 to 2015 was LinkedIn.
