The graph illustrates different types of pollutant resources of greenhouse gas in the UK from 1990 to 2010
Overall, it is evident that while there was an upward trend in the number of gas sources, the opposite trend was seen in the figures for coal and oil. In addition, gas was the most common emission sources of greenhouse gas in the UK in the given period
In 1990, the number of coal was nearly 310 million tons, which was slightly higher than that of gas and oil, about 210 and 270 million tons respectively. 10 years later, an increase to 300 million tons was witnessed in the amount of gas resources but the figures for oil and coal both decreased slowly to around 240 and 280 million tons respectively.
From 2000 onwards, the number of gas resources went up gradually to over 320 million tons in the year 2010. By contrast, the number of emissions from oil and coal experienced a significant fall to nearly 210 million tons and 190 million tons respectively in the last year of the period.
