The graph illustrates UK air pollutants in millions of tonnes, from three different sources: Industry, Transport, and households, over six different years: 1900,1993,1996,1999,2002, and 2005.
Overall, the total air pollutants experienced a decline over the six periods. Industry consistently had the highest air pollutants before a certain period, while transport showed moderate growth, and household was stable over four years, but it started to decrease in the last two years.
Industry’s air pollutants go down stable from approximately 6 million in 1900 to 5 million in 2005. This represents a decrease of over 3 million air pollutants, making it the fastest decreasing source on the graph. The figure for households remain stable until 1999, then it slightly decreased from 1 million tonnes to 0 tonnes.
On the other hand, in the first half of the period, transport fluctuated at around 1million tonnes, after that it rise significantly, reaching 3 million at the end of the period. The total UK air pollutants falling gradually from 8 million to 5 million tonnes during the period.
