The bar chart shows the percentage of boys and girls who passed school-leaving exams in different subjects between 1993-1994.
Overall, girls passed more subjects than boys, especially in languages such as English and French. However, boys did better in Physics and Craft, Design and Technology. Also, in Mathematics both genders had almost the same results.
If we look at girls, they had much higher results in English, with 61.5% passing compared to 44.4% of boys. In addition, in French, more girls passed 32.7% than boys 20.2%. Moreover, girls were also slightly ahead in Geography and History.
By looking at boys, they performed better in Physics, where 10% passed compared to only 5.3% of girls. Similarly, in Craft, Design & Technology, 18.9% of boys passed while only 10.3% of girls succeeded. In Mathematics, the results were almost the same, with around 42% for both genders. Finally, in Biology and Chemistry, the pass rates were low for both boys and girls, and the difference between them was very small.
