The line graph illustrates gym membership of men and women from 1980 to 2010. The two graphs show a general similar trend where both of them fluctuate over the years. The majority of the membership was predominantly accounted for male in most cases except for the years between 1990 and 2000 when male participation in gym faced a sharp decline and towards the ends of the period.
In 1980, there were about 2000 male gym members but experienced a rapid surge of upward trend till 1985 when it peaked to 4000 members. However, it dramatically fell down to approximately 1700 in 1995. This pattern of unsteadiness in membership continued to the following years where as again significantly increased to 5000 participants in 2005 and went downward right after that and ended below 1000 in 2010.
As for women, they mostly had a gradual upward trend until 1985 and remained steady till 1990. After that point, they started to increase their involvement in gym and became over the male in number when they reached around 2800 in the year 1995. They continued to show ups and downs throughout the period and finished the period with nearly 1000 members over the men in 2010.
