The bar chart illustrates a survey on the range of population in Iceland by age from 1990 to 2020. The measurement was conducted in percentage. Overall, it is evident from the chart that the number for age group of 25-54 years was the most dominant among other age categories.
In detail, the population of 25-54 year olds far exceeded those of other four age categories, at just above 30% in 1990. In the following twenty years, there was a slight increase, and the figure reached the peak of almost 50% in the final period.
In the opposite comparison, the population of 0-14 year olds was experiencing a gradual decline. It stood at approximately 25% in 1990, falling slowly in the next twenty years, and then ending at just below 20% in 2010. Similarly, the pattern for 15-24 year olds was witnessing a sharp drop. Starting from just above 20% in 1990, the figure decreased sharply in the following thirty years, accounting for the lowest percentage than other age groups, at just under 10%.
The pattern for 65 above and 55-64 year olds was closely similar, with both accounting for 12% in 1990, then standing in the range of 10-14% at the end of the period.
It can be understood that there was an upward trend for the population of 25-54 year olds over the time frame, whereas the age group of 0-14 ywars and 15-24 years displayed a downward pattern over the same period. As for the age group of 65 above and 55-64, the pattern provided exhibited a stagnant change from 1990 to 2020.
