Overall, the percentage for people who use two or three or more cars car increased, with the former seeing more dramatic increase. However, the figure for people without a car deceased over the period. In addition, the figure for people who have one car remained unchanged, although it was some fluctuations over the period. By contrast the figure for households who own one car was the highest over the period, while the opposite was true for individuals with three or more cars.
The figures for people who own two cars or people who owning three or more cars observed increasing pattern, albeit varying degrees. The figure for families who own three or more cars showed a stepwise growth. Starting at about 1% in 1971 and rising to approximately 6% at the end of the period. A similar trend was observed in figure for families with two cars, although the overall trend was higher. The figure stood at about 7% at the beginning, which experienced a step-wise increase reaching 26% in 2007.
Households with one car, on the other hand, exhibited a downward trend. The percentage initially stood at 48%, before declining continuously throughout 36 year period,with minor fluctuations along the period, before reaching 25% in 2007.
In addition, the percentage of families with one car almost remained stable over the period, despite some fluctuation occurring, starting with 45% at the beginning and 46% at the end.
