Overall, books, food and cars displayed a significant amount of decrease while in the other hand a significant increase is present in terms of computers and restaurant expenditure, while a slight decrease of percentage is seen on petrol and furnitures.
In 1971, Food dominated the chart having almost half of the overall expenditure with 44%. Followed by cars which displayed slightly above one-fifth of the total expenses with 22%, while petrol, furniture, computers, restaurants, and books is only composed by 10% and below of the total expenditure totalling to just 34% combined.In the other hand, in 2001 the most money british people spend in is cars displaying 43% almost doubling its ratio of 22% in the other year. Food and restaurant now share the same proportion with 14% each. While computers rose to 12% books dropped to 1%. Petrol and furniture is also the same with 8% each respectively.
