The line graph illustrates the number of inhabitants children by age group proportion of the young population in the United Kingdom within the 11 years from 1990 to 2001.
Overall, there was a substantial decline in the aged 0 to 4 ,while the rate of children aged 10 to 14 years increased over time.
The percentage of the young population the 0-4 started at under 26% and then rose to 26.5% slightly until 1992 after that figure went down significantly, finishing at just under a quarter.What is more,if we look at the 5-9 ages, the proportion of this age group a increased steadily to more than 26% in 1997. However, after this point, the figure started to decline rapidly, falling to nearly a half by 2001.
Closely followed by the 15-19 category at under 26% and shows a small increase of about half per cent in 1992. Nonetheless, it steadily declined to the lowest point by 2001 (just below 24.5%). In contrast, the population of children aged 10 to 14 began at approximately 23%, after which it increased by around 3% over the following 12 years, peaking at 26% of the child population in 2001.
