The line graph illustrates the percentage of different kinds of modern technologies provided to homes in the UK each year between 1996 and 2003.
Overall, the period witnessed a significant increase in access to all four technologies. Amongst them, CD players were the most preferred technology for the household. In terms of mobile phones and internet access, it can be seen that there is dramatic growth.
At the start of the period, approximately 60% of the UK’s homes had CD players. This percentage rose steadily to nearly 85% in 2002 and 2003. For home computers, this proportion gradually peaked at 57% from 30% in the given time.
Regarding the mobile phones, in 1996-1997, ownership of phones consisted of 27%. It reached about 70% by 2002-2003. Similarly, amongst the UK’s people, it can be considered widespread usage of the internet over the period from 1998/99 to 2002/03. The internet providers’ adaptation commences with 10%; nevertheless, with the majority’s preference for home internet, this trend gained popularity, and in 2002/03, its proportion peaked at about 30%.
