The line graph provides information about six types of technology (using the internet, using social media, owning a smartphone, having broadband at home, owning a tablet, and owning a smartwatch) usage as a percentage of the population in the UK between 2000 and 2015.
Overall, five types of technology usage saw noticeable changes while the use of smartwatches slightly increased over the period.
Focusing on the details, in 2000, the internet was the most commonly used technology with 30% of the population while broadband at home was used by 25% less, only 5%. Between 2000 and 2015, the percentage of the population using the internet rose to a peak of 90%, and that of broadband at home grew to 69%. It is interesting that social media was not used until 2005 and then boosted sharply to 80% by 2015.
As for owning a smartphone, a tablet, and a smartwatch, they were not used until 2010. The percentage of smartphone usage grew dramatically from 19% to 73%, while the percentage of tablet usage expanded from 6% to 45% in the next five years. There was also a marginal rise in smartwatch usage from 1% to 5%.
