The line graph illustates the trend of new Facebook users by province in Cambodia from 2004 to 2014.
Generally speaking, the number of new Facebook users in Kampot rose steadily, while Phnom Penh experienced a sharp surge followed by a slight decline. In contrast, Siem Reap’s figures were far more erratic, marked by significant ups and downs, including a steep drop around 2008.
At the beginning of the timeline, Siem Reap led with just over 3,000 new users, significantly more than the figures for Kampot and Phnom Penh, which were comparatively low. However, Phnom Penh soon witnessed a rapid increase, reaching a peak of about 3,200 users in 2008, before numbers started to fall gradually. Siem Reap, on the other hand, saw a dramatic decline in 2008, briefly recovered, but then continued on a downward path.
Meanwhile, Kampot showed a consistent upward trend throughout the period. By the end, it had overtaken Siem Reap, finishing with around 2,500 new users. In 2014, Kampot recorded the highest number of new users among the three locations, whereas Siem Reap had fallen to the lowest.
