The bar chart compares the proportion of internet used by four different age groups in Taiwan, from 1998 to 2000.
Overall, the middle age cohorts used the highest internet rate, while the remaining showed less. Additionally, by time, the share of internet usage across the middle age group decreased, while the remaining increased.
Adults from 16-to-30 and 31-to-51 years occupied the largest proportion of internet usage. Firstly, in 1998, around 50% of 16-to-30-years individuals used the internet, which was slightly higher than that of the 31-to-51 group with roughly 40%. After that, both the figures went down steadily to approximately 45% and 39% by 1999 before ending at around 43% and 38% by the end of the period.
Children who were less-than-15 and adults who were 50-or-more used the least percentage of internet usage. Specifically, the figures for these two cohorts was low in the first year at roughly 2% to 4%, with that of 50-or-more was a little higher. However, around 8% for both children and adults from these groups used the internet in 1999. Finally, they both ended at around 9% to 10%, with that of less-than-15 was still the lowest.
