In summary, the average monthly salary increased throughout the period. However the average prices of the black and white and colour TV decrease over the full period. As a result, people’s chance to buy new TV has rose. For example, people should have worked more than 3 months to buy new black and white TV in the start of the period then this period much shrank until end of this period, people should have worked only five or six day for black and white TV or if they wanted to buy coloured TV, they should have worked approximately 15 days.
To begun with the monthly average salary in Japan, if it was equal to 30 Yen in 1953 then, it continued to increase until 1973 at about 180Yen. The average monthly salary overtook the black and white TV at 60Yen in 1963. Then, Average salary grew until 1963 and overtook the colour TV at 100Yen in that year. The average monthly salary increased sharply after 1968 until 1973. It means, the average monthly salary increased by 80Yen in last 15years. Moreover, Average monthly salary increased about 8 times than it was in start of the period. The white and black TV was equal to 100Yen which 3 times expensive than average monthly salary in that year. However, the price of black and white TV decreased to 60Yen in 1963 due to the technology was developing. After that, the price of black and white TV decreased to 30Yen in the end of the period. The price of colored TV was very expensive which equal to 180Yen and 4.5 times more expensive than average salary in that year in the middle of the period, because this TV technology was new and used a very difficult technology for these years. Whereas, the price of colored decline sharply from 180Yen in 1958 to 120Yen in 1963. After that, the price of colored TV decreased slightly until 1973 at about 100Yen. However, the price of colored TV was still more than 2 times expensive than black and white TV in 1973.
