The number rose significantly for 20 years and reached its highest mark with over 80 consumptions per year, which lasted until 2000. The consumption of hamburgers, another popular junk food, was below 20 times in 1975. A dramatic uptrend could be observed from 1975 to 1985 and hit more than 80 times annually. The number of consumption kept on increasing over time and stable for a decade at 100 yearly consumption.
As for fish and chips, it started with a relatively high number of 100 annual consumption in 1975 but declined slightly 5 years later by over 80 consumptions. From 1980 to 1985, Australian youngsters eat more junk food by eating approximately 20 times more than the previous year. From 1985 onwards, a significant downtrend could be observed as the number went down continuously and hit a bottom of 40 consumption per year.
