The graph illustrates the crude oil production output of Angola from 1980 to 1999. In 1980, oil production was at a minimal level. However, production increased steadily each year following 1980. Although there was a slight decline in production during 1981 and 1982, oil output began to rise again after 1982.
Angola’s oil production peaked in 1999, with the country producing thousands of barrels per day. While oil output was at its lowest in 1980, by 1999 there were significant resources of oil available.
Despite the initial struggles in the first two years after 1980, the government made concerted efforts to increase oil production. Although there were several years where production dipped slightly, these declines were not a major concern for the government. Ultimately, the overall gains in oil production outweighed the losses, and by the end of 1999, the country had more oil than anticipated.
