Overall, as it can be seen from the graph vaccination helped to reduce number of people who had whooping cough dramatically.
As for the number of patients, it can be said that peak was between the years 1940 and 1945, around 175000 cases. Although, this index decreased to about 60000 in the next decade, another peak was followed in 1952. Subsequently, in 1956, vaccine was introduced. As a result, rates decline significantly, to just over 80000. After that indexes declined steadily, however, in 1977 another significant change can be seen, number of cases rose to over than 60000, and remained the same until 1983. Since 1985 trend decreased steadily to the year 2010, whereas, the number of cases were around 0.
The trend of vaccine uptake can be regarded as an increasing one. After the introduction of vaccine rates were around 81% who did this. Nonetheless, already in 1977 numbers dropped to 31%, and hold at the same level several years. Since 1980, this trend experienced no fluctuations, and rose steadily to the percentage 94% in 2010.
