Overall, it can be seen that, before vaccination the number of cases were high and it reduced after vaccination begins. When vaccination reached at its’ peak, the number of cases dropped significantly.
To begin with, during 1940 to 1955, the reported cases of pertussis were facing more fluctuation, it fluctuated between almost 55,000 to 1,75,000. Subsequently, around 1955, vaccination had begun it showed positive impacts on sufferer. The number of cases were starting fell down. After 10 year of starting vaccination, in 1965, when it reached to 81%, the number of cases reported approximately 20,000.
After establishment of good control in reported pertussis cases, vaccination reduced to 30% in 1975, which adversely affected on the cases, it rapidly increased to around 75,000.
