Overall, it is evident that salaries increased significantly from 1963 to 1983. Meanwhile, the number of consumers who use black and white television plummeted and tended to use color television beginning in 1963.In 1953, the prices of black-and-white television reached a peak of 110.000 yen; however, the figures plunged to around 40.000 yen and to 20.000 yen in 1983. The cost of color television began high around 1960, then decreased dramatically from 100.000 yen to 68.000 yen and continued to decline to just under 50.000 yen in 1983.

Nevertheless, the income of the Japanese followed the opposite trend; the salaries rose slightly, from approximately 19.000 yen in 1953 to 30.000 yen in 1973. Compared to both types of television, the figure overtook the cost of those televisions by around 69.000 yen in 1983.
