The bar chart illustrate a detailed information of rate of marriages and divorces in the USA from 1970 to 2000, while the other chart depicts the adult marital status of the country in the same year.
Overall, it is clear that the marriage rates are greater than divorce rates. By a larger margin, the percentage of married couples are highest among other marital status, while unmarried, widowed, and especially divorced are insignificantly fewer in percentage.
In the first chart, it is explicit that married people were 2.5 million for two consecutive years, 1970 and 1980. However, the strength slightly reduced to 2.4 million in 1990, and it greatly fell to 2 million in 2000. Meanwhile, divorces rate fluctuated greatly. In beginning of the year, it was 1 million, after a slight increase of 1.4 million in the next year, it again in 2000 it fell to the same rate as the in beginning of 1970.
Moving onto the next chart, the married individuls were the highest of all status. Although they were 70% in 1970, it dropped by 10% in 2000. Following this, unmarried people were only 15% in 1970, and this increased to 20% in 2000. Similiarly, divorced individuals were almost null in 70s and this significantly rose to 10% in 20s. Nevertheless, widowed rate were higher by 2% in 1970 than in 2000.
